We’ll visit inspiration-rich pockets of the Internet with artists’ eyes and dig deeper into our characters’ relationships with technology. Location: Zoom

Dates:

Thursday, April 16

Thursday, April 23

Thursday, April 30

Well-seasoned words: Let's write about food with Sonya Feibert

One Session Virtual Workshop on April 22nd

Well-seasoned words: Let’s write about food with Sonya Feibert

Food is a universal love language. It unites us; it excites us; it tickles our olfactory system and brings up core memories. Great food can even haunt us. Your first deep dish pizza. The huckleberry milkshake that got away. Meyer lemon zest that whisks you back to childhood trips along the Central Coast. During focused writing sprints, we’ll explore the connection between food, memory, and place. Inspired by generative prompts and food writing from the greats, we’ll begin to craft mini essays (or one longer essay) that celebrate our great food loves and the rich memories connected to them. With model texts from some of the great food writers, we’ll practice using sensory language to make our writing robust, dynamic, and full of flavor — like any great dish. You’ll come away with material for 1-3 mini essay drafts, or a longer essay that you choose to expand upon, as well as tools to bring the senses, particularly taste and smell, into your writing.

Time:

Wednesday, 6:00-8:00 PM

Location: Zoom

Dates:

Wednesday, April 22

Sonya excels at finding knick-knacks she doesn’t need at thrift stores and free libraries. Her best party
