The Read Freely Project is a book giveaway partnership between Rediscovered Books and The Cabin.

Rediscovered Books started the Read Freely Project in 2021 to highlight and distribute recent books that are diverse, well-written, and yet vulnerable to censorship in the current social climate. The project is designed to connect readers with authors and stories that are different from our own and often unheard.

Your donations are a huge part of what drives our literary arts programs. With your help, we bring world-renowned speakers to local stages, pair teaching-writers with students at schools and juvenile detention centers, offer scholarships to camp and workshop attendees, inspire community stories and poems, and much more.

For the past three years The Cabin has consistently worked to defend the right to read in our state so we can ensure a vibrant future for literary arts in our community. Join us for our first ever fundraiser dedicated to protecting access to books.

The Cabin is embarking on a $2M campaign to expand its space to better serve the growing needs of Boise’s community.

As part of the campaign, we are proud to introduce Henry’s Storytelling Grove, a tribute to Henry Reents, a beloved past board member whose warmth and dedication left an indelible mark on The Cabin’s history.

Henry’s Storytelling Grove will be a beacon of community and connection—a place where individuals of all ages can come together to share their stories, listen to others, and celebrate the transformative power of words. Inspired by Henry’s passion for fostering a vibrant literary community, this outdoor space will serve as a gathering point for creativity, inspiration, and camaraderie.
